Everyone needs help sometimes. Life is like that. In fact, God planned it to be that way. Mortality presents each of us with a wide variety of experiences, and some are easier to manage than others. No matter the experience, there is always help. That’s part of God’s plan too.

Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,

I love fall and this thanksgiving season to slow down and be more intentional about recognizing the blessings that I have in my life to be grateful for. We are all balancing a lot in our lives and I am grateful for the hand of God moments I have experienced while balancing being a mom, a wife, a teacher, having a calling, etc. The little nudges to call someone or visit someone when I didn’t know they had a need. The days where I felt overwhelmed and busy but was able to accomplish more than I thought I could. I am so grateful for my Heavenly Fathers help in these moments.

I have been thinking about this past General Conference for the last month. I am so grateful to hear from our prophet, apostles, and other leaders. Elder Sikahema’s talk really struck a cord with me. The story about his maternal grandparents crossing the sea as a family to be able to be close to an apostle of the Lord - tragedy ensued on their journey, but they soldiered on so they could be with the visiting apostle.

For us, hearing the voice of our prophet and apostles is somewhat simple. We can turn on our televisions and sit on our comfy couches. We can get on our phones and open an app and have their talks at our fingertips. I have been thinking, because of the ease, do I take their words and counsel for granted? Many times with conference, I try to approach the weekend with thoughts and questions I am seeking answers to. I usually walk away from conference weekend feeling uplifted, ideas for things to work on, and talks I want to study more. Life then begins to happen, and somehow those thoughts and feelings get pushed to the side for what I deem more pressing issues.

I pray we can all heed Pres. Oaks council and “as the talks from this conference are published, we invite all to ponder and study them prayerfully, and to act in faith on the principles they explain.”

As I wrap up my thoughts I want to leave you with my testimony as Elder Causse has asked us to share. I am so grateful for the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for this gospel because it helps me to try and have a bigger perspective of my existence. I am grateful to know I am a beloved daughter of Heavenly parents. I am grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ, and although I don’t understand how, our brother and Savior bore all of our sins and all that is hard on this earth, so that we can return to live with our Heavenly parents and Jesus. I am grateful to know I have a Savior who understands the things we go through.

Because of that Atonement, I am grateful for daily repentance that helps me to try and improve and grow as I seek my Heavenly Fathers council. I am so grateful for promptings from the Holy Ghost that encourage me to act. I am grateful for our scriptures and to be able to study, learn, and hear God's voice from them. I am grateful for our modern day prophet and apostles. I pray we can all listen and act on their council. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
